Progress Over Perfection

The phrase done is better than perfect has stayed with me because it shifts the focus from overthinking to moving forward. Perfection can keep us stuck, but finishing allows progress to happen.

When I choose to finish, I notice how much lighter things feel. The task no longer weighs on me, and I can focus on what comes next. Even if the result is not flawless, the act of completion builds momentum.

Letting go of perfection also makes room for creativity. Some of the best ideas come out when I stop obsessing over details and simply release the work. By finishing, I give myself a chance to learn. Each project, each post, each draft becomes part of a bigger journey of improvement.

This way of thinking applies everywhere. In work, it often matters more to deliver on time than to chase tiny adjustments. In personal goals, breaking them into smaller steps makes them feel possible. And in creative moments, finishing allows an idea to live outside of my head, rather than waiting forever to be “ready.”

Done is not about lowering standards. It is about giving yourself the freedom to grow.

Because progress comes from movement, not perfection.
