Once you’ve nailed your logo and colors, it’s time to focus on typography and imagery. These two elements help communicate your brand’s tone, style, and personality in a visually cohesive way.
Typography That Speaks to Your Brand
Typography plays a critical role in how your brand is perceived. It’s not just about choosing a pretty font - each typeface tells a story.
Your fonts must be easy to read across different mediums, from websites to business cards. Consistency is key, so limit your brand fonts to one or two. Typically, one font is used for headlines, and another simpler font is chosen for body text. Your fonts should also complement your brand’s tone.
For example, a luxury brand might use elegant serif fonts, while a tech startup could go with modern, clean sans-serif fonts.
Consistent Imagery and Graphics
Imagery is another powerful tool for building brand identity.
Whether using photos or illustrations, consistency across all visuals creates a unified experience. Decide whether your brand will use vibrant photography, minimalist illustrations, or a mix. Ensure that your imagery reflects the emotional tone of your brand. For instance, an eco-friendly brand might opt for natural, earth-tone visuals, while a tech brand could use sleek, futuristic images.
Whenever possible, use original imagery to differentiate your brand and build trust with your audience.
Aside from what i had shared in my previous posting on Design for Success - Crafting a Memorable Logo and Colour Palette; typography and imagery are also essential tools for shaping how people perceive your brand. Thoughtfully chosen fonts and visuals that align with your brand tone create a cohesive experience, helping your business build trust and recognition.
